The Hansar Hotel is a 5-star luxury hotel located within the Pathumwan
neighbourhood of central Bangkok. It has a very modern and trendy
feel to it, with it’s glass and metal construction immediately
obvious as your taxi pulls up outside. Once inside, you will notice
that they’ve gone to the effort to make this an ultra-modern
style hotel, with lots of modern art, designer furniture and lush
tropical plants.
Check-in process is fast and easy, with several staff members fluent
in English, and once you get to your room you will be in for a treat.
The suites here are exquisitely decorated and adorned with lots of
beautiful hardwood panelling. There is a complimentary mini bar in
every room, with breakfast and Wi-Fi being included in the room rate
as well. The rooms here are spacious, light and airy, somewhere you’ll
be pleased to get back to after the heat and smells of the Bangkok
streets. All the rooms in this hotel are suites, so are considerably
more spacious than the cheaper rooms at other 5 star luxury hotels
in the area.
The breakfast here is fantastic, and caters to all with organic and
vegetarian options too. As is becoming the norm these days in luxury
hotels, they offer a wide range of international cuisines for you
to choose from. They do made to order breakfasts, which are delicious.
After breakfast, you may choose to make use of the hotel’s swimming
pool, spa or fitness centre. The hotel boasts that their spa has won
several awards for their spa treatments.
The hotel itself is located a short walk from Lumphini park, which
is a welcome break from the concrete jungle of inner Bangkok. The
closest BTS station is around 200m walk, which can get you to other
parts of the city quickly and cheaply.
For adult nightlife options, you will certainly need a taxi to visit
the areas of Nana plaza or the infamous Soi Cowboy. This is a minor
drawback of the hotel, as it is definitely not walkable to lower Sukhumvit
or other nightlife hotspots such as soi 33.
However, the friendly staff can arrange taxis for you, and it should
take less than 10 minutes to get there, depending on the heavy Bangkok
traffic. Also, if you do make use of Bangkok’s nightlife activities,
this is an easy option as it is guest friendly, and you don’t
need to pass the reception to access the elevators to your room, so
more private. Just be aware that taking an unregistered guest back
to your room can potentially be dangerous, if you register the guest
at reception and anything happens to either you or your property,
the police will know who to go looking for.
With large, ultra-modern rooms, this should certainly be a hotel
to consider, with rooms starting at around 5500 Baht ($165). However,
it’s not quite in the middle of Bangkok’s well-known late
night entertainment as other hotels, so may not be your best option.
